Women's Squash Drops No. 14 Drexel, 9-0

PHILADELPHIA – Playing in a non-conference midweek matchup, the top-ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team defeated neighboring 14th-ranked Drexel, 9-0, on Tuesday evening at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

The Quakers (8-1), had little trouble with the Dragons (4-6) winning all but one individual match in three games.

Junior Yan Xin Tan played in the No. 1 position on the ladder for the first time this season, while sophomore Anaka Alankamony played at No. 2. Rounding out the top five for the Red and Blue were freshmen Melissa Alves and Marie Stephan, and sophomore Michelle Wong.

In the sixth position for Penn was junior Camille Lanier, while freshman Ali Richmond was seventh, sophomore Grace van Arkel eighth, and senior Colleen Fehm ninth.

The Quakers bounced quickly back into the win column after dropping a close 5-4 decision last Wednesday to Trinity. Penn’s next match will be on the road against Ivy rival, and fifth-ranked, Princeton on Jan. 28.
