PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team will face its next door neighbor for just the second time in varsity competition on Wednesday evening, when the third-ranked Quakers host Drexel at 5 p.m. in Ringe Courts.
After facing the two top-ranked teams in back-to-back weekends, Penn (4-2, 1-1 Ivy) looks to regain its form against the Dragons.
Despite campus’ that butt up against one another, this will be only the second meeting between Penn and Drexel. Penn was victorious in the school’s first meeting, 9-0, in November of 2012. The Dragons’ squash program did not compete as a varsity sport until the 2011-12 season.
Penn has been led by co-captains Courtney Jones and Chloe Blacker. Jones has a 5-1 individual record, and Blacker is 3-0 since returning from an injury.
The Quakers have also seen the emergence of freshman Michelle Wong, 6-0 individually, and Anaka Alankamony, 2-1 in the No. 1 position.
Drexel (5-6) is coming into the match with Penn having won three-straight against Bucknell, Tufts and Middlebury.
