Women's Squash Falls to Yale, Finishes Fourth

PRINCETON, N.J. – In the final day of Howe Cup play at the College Squash Association (CSA) team championships, the third-ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team fell to No. 4 Yale, 5-4, in the third/fourth place playoff match in Princeton, N.J.

After defeating Yale (17-4) in the regular season by the same score, the Quakers (11-4) were unable to come away with the victory in the Howe Cup.

Penn saw Haidi Lala, Michelle Wong, Camille Lanier, Carey Celata and all pick up individual wins in defeat, and was nearly able to pull out a victory. Sophomore Yan Xin Tan and senior Courtney Jones both fell in a fifth and deciding game in their individual matches.

Chloe Blacker ended a terrific stretch of individual play, which saw the senior run off a season record of 11-0 before falling today in the match against Yale.

With the loss, the Quakers finish the season fourth in the country, behind Yale, Harvard, and Trinity (Conn.), which defeated the Crimson in the championship match, 5-4.
