PHILADELPHIA – With the College Squash Association (CSA) individual championships marking the end to a season that saw the University of Pennsylvania women’s team finish fourth in the Howe Cup and second in the Ivy League, nine Penn women individuals will compete this weekend in Philadelphia.
The top seven Quakers will be competing in the Ramsay Cup division, designated for the top-32 players in the country. Those individuals will be Penn freshman Anaka Alankamony (#4), sophomore Yan Xin Tan (#12), sophomore Haidi Lala (#14), senior Courtney Jones (#19), freshman Michelle Wong (#23), sophomore Camille Lanier (#27), and sophomore Carey Celata (#32).
Two other Quakers, senior Chloe Blacker (#38) and Ailsa Agnew (#50) will compete in the Holleran Cup division for players ranked No. 33-80.
Alankamony (6-5) and Tan (8-7) played at the top of Penn’s ladder throughout the season with Lala (11-3) primarily in the No. 3 position. Jones (11-4) finished a very good career with Penn helping lead the team on and off the court as a co-captain. Wong (10-3), Lanier (10-4), and Celata (11-4) all played solid for the Quakers contributing key wins at different points in the season.
Blacker (11-1) also served as a co-captain and was undefeated individually until her last match in the Howe Cup, one weekend ago. Agnew (8-3) came on to play well towards the end of the season for Penn, playing in the No. 9 position.
The CSA individual championships take place Feb. 28-March 2, with the primary host site being Drexel, with Penn’s Ringe Courts serving as the secondary host site. Play begins at 9 a.m. each day and admission is free.
