Women's Squash Opens Up Spring Semester Play Saturday

Team Statistics

PHILADELPHIA - After a 41-day hiatus from the courts, the Women's squash team will return to Ringe Courts on Saturday to face off against ninth ranked Williams (4-5) at 3 p.m. This match will mark the first competitive action for the Quakers (4-1) since they traveled to Brown University on December 5, where they defeated the host Bears 9-0 in route to picking up their second Ivy League victory on the season.

The Quakers lone defeat in the first half of the season came in a close 5-4 match against No. 2 Yale. Every other match this season has ended in a 9-0 sweep in favor of the Quakers. The red and blue have four players who are currently undefeated. Rachael Goh, Annie Madeira, Yarden Odinak, and Pia Trikha have all managed to go 5-0 individually and will look to continue their personal winning streaks as the second half of the season gets underway.

For Williams, the season got off to a very rough start as the Ephs dropped five of their first six matches of the year. Recently, the Ephs have rebounded and managed to win their last three contests. However, playing against Ivy League opponents has not been very favorable for Williams to date. The team is 0-3 against Ivy League foes on the year and has yet to pick up an individual victory as it has been swept by Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.

Outside of Yale, Williams and Penn also have common opponents in Franklin & Marshall and Bates. Penn has managed to sweep both of these aforementioned opponents. Likewise, Williams picked up two victories against these teams, defeating Franklin & Marshall 8-1, and beating Bates in their last time out 7-2. In the head to head matchup a year ago, Penn was able to sweep Williams 9-0, as the Quakers only dropped two individual sets the entire match.

The match between Penn and Williams will feature 12 players who are currently ranked nationally. Every member of Penn's starting nine is ranked, while Williams will run out three ranked players. Below is a listing of the nationally ranked players who are represented this weekend.
