Women's Squash Ready for No. 6 Trinity

PHILADELPHIA – Coming off back-to-back win, the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team will make the trek north to Hartford, Conn. To face No. 6 Trinity on Saturday. The Quakers are coming off another impressive performance last Saturday against Stanford that resulted in their sixth 9-0 win of the season.

Trinity began the season ranked second in the College Squash Association rankings, but suffered a season-opening loss to Stanford, dropping them to sixth. However, the Bantams have won their last seven games including an 8-1 triumph over Yale on Wednesday. They have defeated all four Ivy League opponents this season, with convincing wins over Dartmouth, Cornell, and Columbia.

Penn sits in the second position in the CSA rankings with one loss to the nation’s top team, Harvard. Aside from the loss to Harvard, the Red and Blue has rolled past each of their opponents, losing only three individual games and walking away with 9-0 wins as a team.

Four players have unblemished record this season for the Quakers. Yan Xin Tan (7-0), Marie Stephan (7-0), Melissa Alves (4-0), and Haidi Lala (3-0) have all won all of their matches to start the season.

Stephan is the only player to not lose an individual game this season. She is a combined 21-0 and has allowed her opponent to score nine points only once. She has held her opponent to three points or less 15 times, including three shutouts.
