Women's Squash Rolls Over Williams, 9-0, at Howe Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 2 Penn women's squash teamstormed by Williams in the first round of the Howe Cup at Yale Friday, blanking the Ephs, 9-0.

Penn advances to the semifinals of women's squash's national championship tournament, facing third-seeded Harvard at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. In the other semifinal, top seed Princeton, a 9-0 winner over Brown, will meet fifth-seeded Yale, which upset fourth seed Trinity 5-4.

The Quakers won at every flight, giving up just three games in the process.

Penn received strong play from top to bottom, but was particularly strong in the middle of the line-up. Britt Hebden, Tara Chawla and Alisha Turner gave up just 10 points between them at the fifth, sixth and seventh positions, with Hebden cruising, 3-0 (9-0, 9-1, 9-0).

At No. 2, Sydney Scott dominated with her 3-0 (9-4, 9-0, 9-0) win over Ashley Eyre.

Harvard will be a familiar foe for the Quakers, as the two teams squared off just one week ago at Ringe Courts. Penn won that contest, 6-3, behind the balance of its line-up as it won at the bottom four positions.
