Women's Squash Sweeps Cornell in Season-Finale

ITHACA, N.Y. -Capping off a one-loss regular season, the University of Pennsylvania women's squash team defeated Cornell, 9-0 on Sunday in Ithaca. The win is the Quakers eighth in a row and firmly sets them as the No. 2 seed going into the CSA Team Championships in two weeks.

Penn won six of the nine games by 3-0 scores. The most notable shutout win was Marie Stephan who completes an undefeated regular season with a dropping a single game all season. She is 13-0 on the year and 39-0 in individual games. Stephan was particularly dominant on the day, winning her final two games 11-1.

Reeham Salah, Yan Xin Tan,Rowaida Attia, Michelle Wong, and Grace van Arkel were all also, 3-0 winners. van Arkel tied Stephan for least amount of points allowed on the day. Both surrendered just eight in three games.

Things didn't come easy for the Quakers No. 2 player on Sunday, Anaka Alankamony needed all five games to secure her win. Alankamony lost the first before taking the next two and winning 11-7 in the fifth.

Seniors Haidi Lala and Camille Lanier both needed four games to collect their points. Both women lost the third game, before closing it out in the fourth.

The Quakers will head to New Haven, Conn. in two weeks for a chance at the National Title at the CSA Team Championships. Penn will most like go into the tournament as the No. 2 seed behind Ivy rival Harvard.
