Women's Swim Team at Ivy Championships: Day Three

PHILDAELPHIA – Here are the latest results from the women's Ivy League championship meet. Check back in later tonight for Penn's results in the final heats.

Preliminaries – Saturday, February 17

The preliminary results are in for the women’s Ivy championship swim meet, and again, the Penn women will have a strong representation in the final heats tonight.
In the 200-yard backstroke, freshman Sara Coenen was the top qualifier for Penn, as she came in third, with a time of 2:01.46. Freshman Ainsley Cookingham finished sixth, with a time of 2:04.10. Senior Sarah Jeffers qualified, with a time of 2:07.64, as did senior Hayley Wolfgruber, in 2:07.83, and junior Sarah Bargmann, in 2:10.97.

In the 100 free, senior Stephanie Colson was the top qualifier for Penn, as she came in fourth, in 51.67. Freshman Lauren Brandes was right behind her, as she came in sixth, in 51.74. Junior Amy Ottensmeyer qualified as well, with a time of 53.32. Freshman Andrea Balint qualified as an alternate, with a time of 53.88.

In the 200 breaststroke, only two Quakers qualified: junior Megan Carlin and senior Laine Litman. They came in at 2:23.23 and 2:25.88.

For the 200 fly, freshman Stephanie Nerby was Penn’s top qualifier, as she came in fourth, with a time of 2:04.05. Sophomore Tara Gillies was right behind her in fifth, with a time of 2:04.31. Alison Bretherick and Jeffers also qualified, in 2:06.32 and 2:08.26.

The finals for all events are tonight at 6 p.m.
