Philadelphia - Despite a slight change in the events swam during the meetthe Penn women's swimming and diving team was able to defeat La Salle, 169-130 on Thursday night in its last meet of the regular season. Laura Klick led the Quakers with two individualfirst-place finishes, while the Red and Blue swept the top three spots on the 1000 freestyle.
In lieu of the end of the season and impending championship meets, Penn's head coach Mike Schnur and La Salle's head coach Matt Nunnally decided to incorporate more short distance events and have swimmers take part events they were not accustomed to. The meet included a 50 yard sprint in the breaststroke, backstroke and free.
For the second meet in a row, Klick led Penn with first place finishes - taking first in the 50 and 100 breaststroke. She was also part of the 200 free relay that also included Amy Reams, Andrea Balint and Felicia Leksono that took first in the final event of the meet. Reams and Balint took first in their own events, the 100 free and 200 free respectively. Naomi Delphin (1000 free), Jennifer Claydon (100 fly), Amanda Ackerman (500 free) and Melissa Gardel (3 meter) each took first in the respective events.
The Quakers have a couple of weeks off before heading to East Meadow, N.Y. for the Ivy Championships on Feb. 27-28.
