PHILADELPHIA The Penn women’s swimming and diving team easily downed West Chester on Friday evening, 180-120. Of the 16 events, the Quakers placed first in nine of them and swept the top-three spots in the 200 backstroke, 400 IM and 100 and 200 breaststroke.
Freshman Laura Klick and Stephanie Nerby led the Quakers with two first-place finishes each. Klick took first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, in addition to being a member of the 200 medley relay team that took first. In both individual events, Klick finished over two seconds ahead of the field. Nerby swam to first in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Junior Amy Reams picked up a first place and second place finish in the 100 and 50 freestyle respectively. In addition to Klick, Reams was also a member of the 200 medley relay. Teammates Felicia Leksono and Samantha Husband joined them on the team that registered the win in the first event of the meet.
Jennifer Claydon (400 IM) and Ainsley Cookingham (200 backstroke) first place finishes were also crucial in helping Penn dominate the Golden Rams.
The Quakers are back in Philadelphia for their last meet of the regular season a cross-city contest at La Salle on Wednesday evening.
