PHILADELPHIA - The women's swimming and diving team managed a split against a pair of Ivy opponents on Friday and Saturday, defeating Cornell 189.5-91.5, but falling 155-125 against Princeton.
Despite just two individual wins over the course of two days, Penn was able to rack up large amounts of points with runner-up performances. Coming up with first place finishes on Saturday were Julie Anderson, who won the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:21.32, and the 400 Freestyle Relay 'A' team of Jenny Claydon, Hayley Springman, Sammi Husband and Shelby Fortin, who beat Penn's 'B' team to the wall by about a second and a half, winning in 3:34.06.
The runner-ups for Penn over the course of Friday and Saturday were the 'A' 200 Medley Relay team, Fortin in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, Taylor Sneed in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke, Melissa Parratto 200 IM and 200 Butterfly, and Christina Hurley in the 50 Freestyle.
Penn next takes the blocks from Dec. 1-3 when they take part in the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College. The Quakers won last year's six-team event.
