Women's Swimming Goes 1-1 Versus Dartmouth And Yale

PHILADELPHIA - The Quakers were unable to break Yale's perfect mark in the Ivies this year, however the team did beat Dartmouth on Saturday at Sheerr Pool.

Penn had no trouble dispatching Dartmouth, beating the Big Green 231-69. Against the Bulldogs, Penn managed just one victory in the 16 events, losing 204.5-95.5. Despite just one win, the team had seven second and nine third place finishes.

Senior Lauren Brandes had a pair of second place finishes, in the 50 free (24.35) and the 100 free (53.12), and served as the first swimmer off the blocks in Penn's victorious 400 yard free relay. She was also part of Penn's secon place 200 yard medley relay (1:48.54), along with Felicia Leksono, Laura Klick and Jennifer Claydon.

Fellow classmate Andrea Balint was the anchor of the winning relay and also took second in the 200 IM and third in the 200 yard free. Stephanie Nerby also swam well for the Quakers, with second place finishes in the 200 free (1:53.93) and the 500 free (5:03.48).

Penn finishes with a 3-4 record in the Ivy League and returns to the pool on Friday, January 29, when they play host to West Chester, with the meet getting underway at 6 p.m.
