PHILADELPHIA – Coming off a season-opening win at Connecticut last Saturday, the University of Pennsylvania women’s swimming team is looking to add to the win column this weekend, when the Quakers travel to the Big Apple and dive into competition with Columbia on Saturday. The meet marks the beginning of Ivy League competition and will begin at 6 p.m. at Uris Pool.

Penn made its way to the top in ten events, which solidified the win at UConn. The 200 medley relay squad -- junior Lauryn Brown, freshman Haley Wickham, freshman Rochelle Dong, and senior Shelby Fortin -- started the meet off right with the first top points. Brown, Dong and Fortin, along with junior Irene Katopodis, put the icing on the cake as the four swam to their final first-place finish in the 200 free relay.

The Red and Blue are looking to continue riding the win streak and not repeat last year’s outcome when the Lions visited. After a strong start at Sheerr Pool, Penn struggled to make up ground as Columbia took the win, 159-140.

The race is on for the Ivy League Championships, and the Quakers are ready to prove themselves in the lanes.
