Women's Swimming Splits Tri-Meet at Princeton

PHILADELPHIA -- The Penn women’s swimming team participated in its first dual meet of the season on Friday and finished the evening with a win and a loss. The Quakers downed Cornell 205.5-94.5, and fell to the host Tigers, 175-117.

The 200 medley relay team of Felicia Leksono, Laura Klick, Kristen Degrazia and Amy Reams started the evening with a third place finish (1:50.48). Stephanie Nerby had two top three finishes – a third place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:53.96) and second place in the 200 butterfly (2:08.92).

In the 200 IM the Quakers captured the first and third positions. Samantha Husband swam to her first collegiate first place finish (2:11.86), while teammate Ainsley Cookingham placed third (2:14.03).

The Quakers swept the top two spots in two events – the 1-meter diving event and the 200 freestyle relay. Madeline Bauer had a score of 222.35 to capture first place, while Melissa Gardel placed second with a score of 216.05. In the relay event, Penn’s squad of Leksono, Klick, Degrazia and Jennifer Claydon took first (1:38.22), while the team of Andrea Balint, Reams, Lauren Brandes and Meghan Barron placed second (1:38.75)

The team is back in the pool Dec. 4 when they travel to Ohio for the annual Kenyon Invitational.
