Women's Swimming Takes Down West Chester, 145-77

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - In their final home meet of the season the University of Pennsylvania women's swimming and diving team defeated West Chester 151-92 on Friday evening at Sheerr Pool.

The 400-meter relay team picked up the win in the first event of the night. Tara Gillies, Megan Carlin, Lauren D'Erasmo and Jessica Aiello clocked at 3:59.79. In the 200-yard freestyle, Penn took the top three spots. Margot Newcomer (1:54.50) placed first, followed by Lauren Bergstrom (1:56.18) and Gillies (1:57.12).

The Quakers would dominate once again, this time in the 3-meter diving. Kate McArdle (237.68), Kelly Tek (230.10) and Kenyon Lewis (214.95) took the top three spots.

Amy Ottensmeyer (54.31) picked up the Red and Blue’s next victory, in the 100-yard freestyle. Penn would have to wait three events until their next win. In the 1-meter diving, Tek (248.10) and Lewis (239.93) finished first and second respectively.

Penn capped of their victory with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Bergstrom, Aiello, Ottensmeyer and Stephanie Colson clocked at 3:38.06.

With the win, the Quakers improve to 11-5 overall. West Chester falls to 7-3.

The Red and Blue are not in action againuntil they compete in the Ivy LeagueChampionships from Feb. 23-25.
