Women's Swimming Takes First In Nike Invitational

Kenyon, Ohio - The Penn women's swimming team continued their momentum from the previous two days, leading wire to wire at the Nike Invitational at Kenyon College.

The Quakers led after Thursday and Friday before ending the weekend with 1457 total points. Second place and host Kenyon finished with 1330.5 points.

Senior Stephanie Nerby, seeded first in the 500 free didn't disapoint in the final, taking the first place finish by over two and half seconds with her time of 4:56.90. Freshman Blair Webb finished third with a time of 5:02.39. Nerby continued her strong swimming at Kenyon, taking first in the 200 yard backstroke as well,in 2:05.07.

Senior Andrea Balint got Penn's only other first place of the afternoon in the 200 IM, finishing in a time of 2:05.16. Sophomore Kelby Zimmerman, finished third in the 200 yard breaststroke, andwas one of four Quakers to finish in the top six. Ji Young Lee, Laura Klick and Carey Stauder took fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the event.

Penn returns to the pool on Wednesday, December 9 when they travel to Columbia for a meet beginning at 6 p.m.
