Women's Tennis Competes at Day 2 of William and Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG - The women's tennis team competed in day 2 of the William and Mary Invitational on Saturday. Quarterfinal and seminfinal matches were held in doubles, and both Quaker teams emerged victorious.

In Flight A, the number four seeded team of Ekaterina Kosminskaya and Julia Koulbitskaya defeated the team of Archaya and Zoricic from William and Mary, 8-6. In the semifinals, the Quaker duo upset the number one overall seed of Airapetian and Franco from Arkansas, 9-8. The two will meet another Razorback team of Mizevicute and Kaluder in the finals.

In Flight B, Yulia Rivelis and Maria Anisimova beat Cohen and Costa from Old Dominion, 9-8 (6) to advance and meet Kasztalaniec and Zidek from William and Mary. In the semifinals, Penn's twosome rolled over the host pair, 8-5. Rivelis and Anisimova play in the championship match Sunday against Cash and Sullivan from BC.

In Flight A singles action, Kosminskaya was defeated in the semifinals by Misceviciute, 6-1, 6-3. In Flight B, Rivelis, the number one seed, was upset by Kasztelaniec, 6-3, 6-4. Anisimova won her consolation match against Jessi Robinson of Duke, 6-3, 7-5.

All four Quakers will be in action on Sunday, the final day of the tournament. Full results will be available at the conclusion of the matches.
