Women's Tennis Competes at NTC Invitational

FLUSHING – Penn traveled to the National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. over the weekend to compete in the NTC Invitational. The tournament, held at the site of the U.S. Open is made up of some of the best players in the country.

The highlight of the weekend was Charlotte Tansill’s play in Flight B of singles. Tansill won four matches on the weekend en route to the championship.

Lauren Sadaka advanced to the finals of Flight D before falling, 2-6, 4-6.

Julia Koulbitskaya and Yulia Rivelis advanced to the semifinals of Flight A doubles.

Ekaterina Kosminskaya advanced to the semifinals of Flight A singles before retiring due to injury.

Head coach Michael Dowd was pleased with the weekend’s results.

“Playing in this tournament and playing on Arthur Ashe Stadium is a great thrill for our team,” he said, “We played a lot of competitive matches, which is the goal in the fall. I feel that we proved we are still the team to beat in the Ivy League.”
