Women's Tennis Competes in William and Mary Invitational

Williamsburg, Va. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team competed in its first tournament of the fall at the William and Mary Invitational.

Sophomore Julia Koulbitskaya defeated Duke’s Melissa Mang in Flight B Singles, 2-6, 7-6 and 1-0. In Flight C Singles Freshmen Alexis Plukas defeated Meg Fanjoy of North Carolina 6-0 and 6-3. Carolina Stanislawski beat Alex de Guzman of William and Mary 6-1 and 3-0.

The Quakers were victorious in doubles as well. In Flight C Raluca Ciochina and Janet Comeno defeated William and Mary’s Klaudyna Kasztelaniec and Lingda Yang 8-6. In the consolation; Sara Schiffman and Carolina Stanislawski defeated Lara Alexander and Lori Stern of Virginia 9-7.

Women’s tennis will compete again next weekend. They will host the Cissie Leary Invitational from Sept. 23 through Sept. 25.
