Women's Tennis Downs Temple, 7-0

Philadelphia, Pa. -- The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team defeated cross-town foe Temple, 7-0, on Saturday in the Levy Tennis Pavilion.

The Quakers started out the match by winning the doubles point. The team of Shelah Chao and Julia Koulbitskaya won, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles and Michelle Mitchell and Raluca Ciochia teamed up to take the No. 2 spot, 8-5, for the point. Kate Williams and Caroline Stanislawski won at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.

In singles action, Yulia Rivelis won at No. 1, 6-1, 6-7(3), 1-0(3) over Ana Malesa. Koulbitskaya won at No. 2 singles, 7-6(5), 6-4, over Yuri Kurashima and Mitchell defeated Lauren Verrall, 6-1, 6-0, in the third position. In the fourth spot, Chao defeated Laura Seiverling, 6-1, 7-6(4), at No. 5 Williams defeated Jennifer Goeta, 6-1, 6-1, at Sara Schiffman defeated Sharanya Pattabi, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 6 position.

The Quakers are next in action on Saturday, April 2, when they host Princeton at noon.
