PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's tennis could not overcome Brown on Friday at Levy Tennis Pavilion, falling 5-2. Lauren Sadakaand Emily Wolf(pictured)won both their singles and doubles match. The Quakers are now 1-11 overall 0-2 in the Ivy League, while the Bears improve to 16-2 and 2-0 in the Ancient Eight.
The Quakers let the doubles point slip away with two close matches going in the Bears' favor. The duo of Sadaka and Wolf easily won their doubles match at the No. 3 slot (8-2). The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams were not as lucky.Ekaterina Kosminskaya and Maria Anisimova lost 8-4 at No. 1,while Alexa Ely and Jacqueline Wong fell at No. 2, 8-6.
Ahead 1-0 following the doubles matches, the Bears took the top two matches from the Quakers, along with No. 3 and No. 4 for the win. Sadaka battled at No. 3 with Tanjya Vucetic, taking the match to three sets for theeventual win (6-4, 5-7, 6-3). Wolf defeatedCatherine Stewartin two sets with the first one going to a tie-breaker (7-6 [8-6], 7-5).
The Quakers are back in action Saturday when they host defending Ivy League Champions, Yale, at noon.
