Women's Tennis Drops Tough Match against UNC Wilmington, 3-2

RICHMOND, Va. - Women's Tennis wrapped up play in the VCU 4-1 Invitational with a tough 3-2 defeat at the hands of UNC Wilmington on Sunday morning. With the loss Sunday, the Quakers (2-2) finished the invitational with a 1-2 record. Penn easily took the number one and three singles positions, but could not get the third match that it needed for the victory.

Connie Hsu once again made quick work of her opponent in the number one singles position (6-0, 6-2). This match capped a weekend for Hsu in which she went 3-0, while only allowing three games throughout the course of the entire weekend.

Jaime Yapp-Shing was the other Quaker to post a victory as she took the number three singles with a straight set (6-1, 6-2) victory. This was her first singles victory of the weekend, but she did manage to pick up the victory in doubles over the weekend playing alongside Alexa Ely in the win over Norfolk State.

The Quakers will now return home where they will host six consecutive home matches. The home slate begins Wednesday when they host Saint Joseph's at 4 p.m.
