Women's Tennis Duo Competes at All-American Championships

PHILADELPHIA - The women's tennis pairing of Sol Eskenazi and Jules Rodin were so successful together last year -- recording a 10-4 mark in the spring season -- that they became one of only 24 doubles pairs in the country to be selected for the 2012 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, held this past week in Los Angeles.

Matched up against Kanyapat Narattana and Malika Rose of Oklahoma State in the opening round, Eskenazi and Rodin battled but ultimately came up short in an 8-5 defeat. Moving into the consolation draw, they were upended by Danielle Collins and Lauren Embree of Florida, 8-1. Embree would go on to win the singles championship, outlasting a loaded field of 32 competitors.

Eskenazi was also entered into the singles draw but had to advance through qualifying in order to make the main field. Lina Lileikite of Miami (FL) defeated her, 6-2, 6-2, to send her into the back draw of qualifying. There, she took the opening set off Cal's Tayler Davis, before dropping the match in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 2-6.

Eskenazi, Rodin and the rest of the Quakers will conclude their fall season at the ITA Northeast Regionals. That event willrun from Oct. 19-23 and ishosted by Army in West Point, N.Y.
