Women's Tennis Edged by Temple, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Penn women’s tennis team fell, 4-3, to cross-town rival Temple on Saturday afternoon. The Quakers took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches, but could not pick up the necessary three singles matches to clinch the win.

The duo of Maria Anisimova and Lauren Sadaka picked up a doubles win at No.1, while Jacqueline Wong and Alexa Ely won at the No. 2 slot.

With a 1-0 lead the Quakers headed into the singles matches. Unfortunately, the Red and Blue could not keep up the momentum as Sadaka andAnisimova were the only two to win.Sadaka won her match in two sets as she extends her winning streak to four. Sadaka has not dropped a match since opening day against nationally ranked Old Dominion. Anisimova defeated her opponent at No. 1 in a tight three set contest. Her win was a little too late as the Owls had already clinched the victory prior to the finish of Anisimova’s match.

Next for the Quakers is a trip to California where they will play four teams in eight days including Fresno State, who has consistently been ranked in the top-20.
