Women's Tennis Falls at No. 33 Arizona State, 7-0

TEMPE, Ariz. – In its second match in Arizona, the University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis was defeated, 7-0, by host Arizona State later Monday afternoon.

Penn (5-4) played its third-straight ranked opponent facing No. 54 Maryland before the spring break trip then facing No. 51 Saint Mary’s College on Sunday and the Sun Devils Monday.

The Quakers fell in doubles in the top position and third position. The freshmen duo of Lina Qostal and Ria Vaidya pushed the Sun Devils (7-2)in the third spot, before falling 6-4.

In singles play Penn dropped all but one match in straight sets. In the fifth position Ria Vaidya forced a third set 6-2, 2-6, 10-7.

Penn returns to action on its trip Wednesday, as it takes on UNLV in Las Vegas, beginning at 1 p.m.
