Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team fell to Princeton, 5-2, on Saturday in the Levy Tennis Pavilion. It was the Ivy League opener for both teams.
The Quakers (6-5, 0-1 Ivy) fell in two of the three doubles matches, losing that point. Shelah Chao and Julia Koubliskaya fell at No. 1 doubles, 9-7 and Raluca Ciochina and Michelle Mitchell fell at No. 2, 8-6. Penn won the third doubles match, with Kate Williams and Caroline Stanislawski winning, 8-3.
Yulia Rivelis won at No. 1 singles for the Quakers, defeating Jessica Siebel, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Koulbitskaya fell at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2, to Darcy Robertson and Mitchell fell to Christine Kansky, 6-1, 6-0, in the third position. At No. 4, Chao fell to Alison Hasmall, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, while Stanislawski collected the Quakers second point of the match in the fifth position, defeating Joanna Roth, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(3). Ciochina fell at No. 6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, to Ivana King.
The Quakers are next in action on Friday, April 8 when they host Yale at 2 p.m.
