PHILADELPHIA The Penn women’s tennis will be in sunny California for the next week as the team plays four matches in six days. This annual spring break trip will pit the Quakers against top west coast teams including No. 22 Fresno State, in addition to St. Mary’s (Calif.), Arizona and No. 42 Sacramento State.
The Quakers, who are 1-5 overall, are looking to gain valuable court experience as they will dive right into their Ivy schedule following California. The Red and Blue most recent match went in cross-town rival Temple’s favor, 5-4. Penn picked up the important doubles point, but could capture three of the singles matches for the win. The Quakers lone win was a 7-0 decision to George Washington on Feb. 20.
Senior captain Lauren Sadaka has been a bright light for the Quakers. Sadaka has won every one of her singles matches (five) since dropping her first match of the season to Old Dominion. Sadaka has also won three of her last doubles matches.
Penn’s first match of the trip is set for Monday at St. Mary’s with a 2 p.m. pacific start time.
