Women's Tennis Names Ciara Finucane Assistant Coach

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania's Head Coach of Women's Tennis, Sanela Kunovac, is proud to announce that Ciara Finucanehas been named assistant coach. Finucane comes to Penn from Case Western Reserve University where she also served as an assistant coach. She brings with her a coaching background that extends to all-ages and talent levels, as well as collegiate and international playing experience.

"I am really excited to be here at the University of Pennsylvania," said Finucane. "I am looking forward to helping Coach Kunovac continue to build the tennis program here. I am looking forward to getting started and could not be happier about this opportunity."

A former letterwinner at The Ohio State University, Finucane also served as a tennis instructor at the Hurricane Tennis Academy in Sarasota, Florida as well as The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort in Longboat Key.

Before coaching in Florida, Finucane served as a student assistant coach at OSU after wrapping up a three-year playing career for the Buckeyes. She graduated in June of 2008 with a degree in sociology and a minor in communications. Prior to her time at Ohio State, Finucane also lettered twice in tennis at Georgia Southern University.

Originally from Ireland, Finucane represented her home country from 2000-2007 as part of the National Tennis Team. She was ranked No. 1 in Ireland under-16 and under-18 during that time and traveled extensively throughout Europe playing competitive tennis before coming to the United States.
