DENTON, TEXAS -Going on the road for the first time in a month, the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team fell to No. 60 North Texas, 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. The loss in the Quakers first in the last six matches.
Penn continued its streak of solid doubles play by earning the doubles point with two wins and a lead in an unfinished game. Kana Daniel and Sonya Latycheva continued their impressive doubles play with a 6-3 win, while Lina Qostal and Lube Vazhenina earned the point for the Quakers with a 6-4 win.
While Penn lost four of the six singles matches, the Quakers still saw success a North Texas. Daniel moved to 5-0 on the season with a two-set win in the top spot. Daniel trailed 3-0 in her first set before rolling to a 6-4 win and a 6-2 match winner. Daniel remains unblemished in 2016 and has not lost a set yet.
Also victorious was Luba Vazhenina who competed in the sixth spot for Penn. Vazhenina's win did not come east as she went to tie breakers in both sets. Vazhenina won 7-6 (1) and 7-6 (4) in her two sets on a fiercely windy day.
Penn will remain in North Texas until Tuesday when they take on University of Texas at Arlington at 2 p.m.
