Women's Tennis Set to Face Brown and No. 52 Yale

PHILADELPHIA – After almost a week to think about its Ivy League opening defeat at No. 66 Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team is eager to return to action this weekend, facing Brown and No. 52 Yale on the road.

Penn (7-5, 0-1 Ivy) first heads to Providence, R.I. for a Friday afternoon matchup versus Brown, beginning at 2 p.m. Penn will be the Bears’ first official Ivy match of the season, after having posted an 11-5 overall record to date. Brown faced Cornell, Yale and Princeton earlier in February at the ECAC Indoor Team Championships, defeating the Big Red and falling to the Bulldogs and Tigers.

The Quakers defeated Brown in a close match last season at home, 4-3. The Bears had been victorious the previous four years before last season.

On Saturday afternoon Penn and Yale will face off in New Haven, Conn. beginning at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs (8-7) will play its Ivy League opener versus Princeton on Friday, before facing the Quakers. The Red and Blue have fallen in their past six matches versus Yale, and will look to reverse that mark this weekend.

Penn has been led by Sol Eskenazi, who suffered her first defeat in singles play against Princeton last weekend. The junior, playing in the No.1 position is 10-1 on the season. Also helping to lead the Quakers has been Kana Daniel, playing in the No. 2 position. The freshman has seen early success, compiling an 8-3 overall record.
