On April 27, the Penn women's track and field program held the inaugural meeting, which corresponded with the 109th Running of the Penn Relays, of their alumnae association. Twenty-four former track and field athletes, ranging in graduation years from 1980 to 2002, and former Head Coach Betty Costanza were in attendance.
The purpose of the meeting was to unite generations of female athletes and to build an organization from which both past and present athletes could benefit. The organization is being formally headed by Co-Presidents Jennifer Roy, C'98 and Julie Denisenko, C'99, who hope to pass along the following mission - "Maintain a dedicated community of alumnae and friends committed to the success of both past and present University of Pennsylvania's Women's Track & Field/Cross-Country student-athletes 'on and off the track' and to ensure that the necessary resources for a successful program are made available to future generations of female track & field/cross country athletes."
The association plans to meet bi-annually, corresponding with Penn Relays and Homecoming each year. If you are a former friend or alumna of the team and wish to be included on their distribution list, please send an e-mail to email@example.com
