Women's Track and Field Competes at Penn Invitational


PHILADELPHIA--The Penn women's track and field team battled cold and snowy weather at the Penn Invitational, Saturday at Franklin Field. Freshman Laura McDanieltook first in the 100m and 200m while Iman Johnson took first in the shot put to lead the Quakers.

Newcomer Laura McDaniel, took the top spot in her best times of the season in the 100m (12.38) and 200m (25.64). In the 100m, fellow freshman Halloran Copefinished fourth at 12.85. Jessica Ehrlich was timed at 13.16 for sixth. In the 200m, Kelly Allred took second with a time of 26.37 and Whitney Tagliavini finished at 28.16.

Penn ran seven in the 400m dash with senior Jesse Carlin leading the group in for a second-place overall finish (56.47).

Kinjal Parikh and Kim Shooshan finished second and third in the 800m run with times of 2:14.83 and 2:15.23, respectively.

Claire Kim (4:38.88) and Stacy Kim (4:39.09) ran to fourth and fifth place finishes in the 1500m.

In the hurdles, Penn's Hannah Cope took fourth in the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.52. Three other Quakers competed in the race. Junior Sophia Termini was the lone Quaker in the 400m hurdles and finished 10th with a time of 1:10.52.

In the relays, Penn took third in the 4x100m (49.00). Only Penn "A" and"B" raced the4x800m relay. "A" finished first at 9:!8.80 with "B" crossing in a time of 9:37.63.

Freshman Liza Lozovatskaya took second in the pole vault after clearing 3.35m.

Tagiliavini took third in the long jump, leaping to 5.48m. Camille Richard was third in the triple jump (11.72m).

Iman Johnson's 12.66m mark in the shot put earned her the first-place honors in the event.

Senior Charli Tabler led the Quakers in the discus throw with a distance of 37.68m and a third-place overall finish. A two-sport athlete, freshman Amy Donovan took fourth with a distance of 36.09m in the event. Georgina Owino was sixth marking 33.98m.

Senior Catrina Chisholm marked 49.00m in the hammer throw for second place. Tabler took seventh with a mark of 41.60m while junior Erica Denhoff was 12th with a mark of 34.60m.
