PHILADELPHIA With the first outdoor meet of the season out of the way, the University of Pennsylvania women’s track and field team will look to improve upon their debut marks at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday at Kehoe Track in College Park, Md.
The steeplechase will start the track portion of the meet at 10 a.m., while the hammer and high jump will lead off the field events at the same time. The women’s long jump will also start at that time and will run simultaneously with the men on Maryland’s two runways. The last of the field events, the discus, starts at 2:30 p.m. and the meet is set to conclude with the 1,600-meter relays at 5:50 p.m.
In the team’s only outdoor meet thus far in 2009, two individuals and the 400-meter relay team posted ECAC qualifying times last weekend at the Wake Forest Open. Deanna Morelli did so in the javelin and Leah Brogan accomplished the feat in the midst of winning the 3,000 meters.
Complete results from the Maryland Invitational will be available on PennAthletics.com shortly after its conclusion.
