Women's Indoor Performance Lists
PHILADELPHIA- After appearing in the Penn State Open on Jan. 17, the University of Pennsylvania women’s track and field team heads once again to State College, Pa., to compete in the Penn State National on Friday and Saturday.
The meet, which takes place at Ashenfelter Track, starts at noon on Friday with the pentathlon events. The weight throw and long jump finals are Friday evening with 5:45 p.m. starts. Track events start at 6:05 p.m. Friday and will conclude with the finals of the 60-meter dash at 9:55 p.m. Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with the 400 meters. The field events get underway at 11 a.m. with the shot put and high jump. The conclusion of the meet at 5:50 p.m. that night with the 1,600-meter relay.
More than 40 teams and over 1,000 athletes from colleges around the country are expected to participate in the event. This includes, Arkansas (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 4) and Kentucky (No. 22), all ranked in the top 25 as well as Ivy League rival Princeton.
This year, the Red and Blue enter the meet after an encouraging seventh-place finish at the Great Dane Classic, a result which also yielded an ECAC qualifier in Anna Aagenes. Aagenes, a junior from Doylestown, Pa., surpassed the ECAC benchmark with a time of 2:51.40 in the 1,000 meters. The distance medley relay team, freshman Leah Brogan and senior Whitney Tagliavini have also earned ECAC qualifier status this season.
