PHILADELPHIA - After a month-long break from its first meet of the 2009-10 campaign, the University of Pennsylvania women's indoor track and field team will be back in action at the PSU Northeast Challenge on Saturday in State College, Pa.
The meet gets started at noon with the pole vault and long jump. The first event on the track begins at 12:10 p.m. with the mile run. The day will wrap up with the 4x400 relay at 6:15 p.m.
In Penn's lone meet of the season so far, the Quakers posted four winners at the Bison Opener on Dec. 5 at Bucknell. Meanwhile, Penn's 4x400 relay team qualified for the ECAC Championships, finishing second.
The Quakers return 26 letterwinners from a team that finished fifth at the indoor Heptagonal championships a year ago. This includes All-Ivy and All-East honoree Anna Aagenes (800 meters) and three legs of the All-East distance medley relay team (Kimberly Shooshan, Rachel Villa and Laura Steel).
Formally the Penn State Open, the PSU Northeast Challenge will welcome many of the top teams on the East Coast, including, Albany, Georgetown, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Seton Hall, West Virginia and St. Francis (PA), as well as Ivy League rival Cornell and host Penn State.
