Women's Track and Field to Compete at Indoor ECAC's

2009 Indoor Performance Lists

PHILADELPHIA - With the indoor track regular season drawing to a close, the University of Pennsylvania women’s track and field team now turns its full attention to the postseason, as the Quakers send 14 qualifiers to the ECAC Division I Track and Field Championships this weekend in Boston, Mass.

Events begin at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with the hurdles portion of the pentathlon, and conclude with the 3,200-meter relay trials at 4:40 p.m. Sunday’s lineup kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with the distance medley relay, and ends with the 3,200-meter relay final at 3:20 p.m. The awards ceremony is slated to begin shortly thereafter at 3:40 p.m.

This year, the Red and Blue will send 11 individual and three team qualifiers to the ECAC Championships. Junior Anna Aagenes (800 meters and 1000 meters) and senior Leah Brogan (3000 meters and 5000 meters) lead the squad with qualifying times in two different individual events.

The Quakers’ postseason lineup also includes seniors Kinjal Parikh (mile), Camille Richard (triple jump) and Whitney Tagliavini (long jump); juniors Kathryn Gevitz (triple jump) and Kimberly Shooshan (1,000 meters); and freshmen Leah Brown (60 meters), Catherine Okoukoni (triple jump) and Laura Steel (mile). Meanwhile, Penn is scheduled to field teams in the 1,600-meter, 3,200-meter and distance medley relays, respectively.

In the event that members of the team reach NCAA qualifying times during the meet, they will next travel to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships March 13-14 at College Station, Texas.
