Women's Track and Field to Host First Home Meet Saturday

PHILADELPHIA- For the first time this year, Franklin Field will host a track meet when the University of Pennsylvania women’s track and field team hosts the annual University of Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday inside the historic facility.

The Penn Invite will begin at 9 a.m. with the hammer, which takes place on South Field. The running events start at 10:15 a.m. with the 5,000 meters with the meet scheduled to end at 6:10 p.m. with the 1,600-meter relay.

Joining the Quakers in Philadelphia will be 40 men’s and women’s teams, which include Navy, Army and Delaware; along with Ivy rivals Cornell, Harvard and Columbia. Fellow Philadelphia area schools will also participating, including Temple, La Salle and Villanova to name a few.

In just two outdoor meets this season, the Quakers have qualified two individuals—Leah Brogan and Deanna Morelli—for the ECAC Championships in a combined three events. Penn has also already hit the ECAC mark in the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays.
