STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn women's track & field team completed the first day of the Sykes-SabockChallenge Cupat Penn State Friday afternoon with several outstanding individual efforts. The event is taking place at the Horace Ashenfelter III Track.
The Quakers' highest finisher among the women was Yelizaveta Lozovatskaya in the pole vault, where she tied for fourth at 3.50 meters.
Penn placed sixth in the distance medley relay, as the team of Kinjal Parikh, Jamie Massarelli, Anna Aagenes and Jamie Liberti clocked 11:59.49.
Shaunee Morgan ran her heat of the 60-meter dash in 7.93 seconds, missing the final by one-hundredth of a second in the process. Laura McDaniel (8.09), Kelly Allred (8.12) and Kali Strother (8.19) also participated in that event for the Quakers.
In the 5,000, Carol Xu took 16th overall in a time of 18:47.87, while Chelsea Townes was 21st in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.35 seconds and Iman Johnson was 25th in 9.42.
In the long jump, Penn was led by Whitney Tagliavini who covered 5.30 meters to tie for 13th. Brittany Middlebrooks was 23rd overall at 5.10 meters, while Stephanie McIntyre was 27th at 4.90 meters.
Competition concludes at the Sykes-Sabock Saturday.
