PHILADELPHIA - Before gearing up for the worldwide spectacle that is the Penn Relays, the University of Pennsylvania women’s outdoor track and field team will compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Stadium in Princeton, N.J., this weekend.

This will be the final-tune up for the Quakers before Penn Relays, which is April 26th-28th. The two-day Larry Ellis Invitational kicks off Friday with the hammer throw at 3 p.m., and ends with the 5,000 meters at 9 p.m. Saturday morning, the running events start with the 4x100-meter relay at noon and finish with the 4x400-meter relay at 5:45 p.m. Meanwhile, in the field events, the shot put sets up at noon and the javelin is at 1 p.m.

Last year at the Larry Ellis Invitational, then-sophomore Leslie Kovach won the 3,000 meters for the Quakers with the second-best time of her career up to that point with a winning time of 9:42.02. In addition, the Quakers posted 12 top-10 finishes at the meet.

Last week at the Penn-Princeton dual competition, senior Kristen Judge tied the school high jump record with a 1.75-meter jump. Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay and Jillian Hart each launched into second-place in the school record book, but Princeton narrowly won the dual by a score of 85-77.

A full recap of the meet will be available at PennAthletics.com shortly after the completion of the meet.
