PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country team placed sixth, out of 30 teams, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon. The Quakers finished with 158 total points, a 25-point improvement from last season. It is the third consecutive sixth-place finish for Penn.
Ashley Montgomery placed fifth to lead the way for the Quakers, clocking a 6K time of 21:04.8. The junior finished more than five seconds faster than the sixth-place runner from Villanova. She adds All-Region honors to a long list of accolades this season, which includes a fifth-place finish at the Ivy Heps last month.
Montgomery's finish was also good enough for her to qualify for the NCAA Championships next weekend in Louisville, Ky.
