PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in men's basketball, and for the third straight week and the fifth time this season University of Pennsylvania freshman guard Antonio Woods has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Woods had a superb performance on Saturday night, as Penn defeated Cornell 79-72. The freshman scored a team-high 15 points and also dished out a career-high 11 assists for his first collegiate double-double. Woods' 11 assists came against just two turnovers.
In Penn's 54-46 win over Columbia on Friday, Woods scored seven points and also recorded three rebounds and four assists.
Woods enters Tuesday night's season finale against Princeton averaging 9.5 points per game in Ivy League play (with eight double-figure outings), and if he gets six assists in that game he will finish as this season's Ivy statistical leader in that category (Ivy games only). Penn and Princeton will tip off at 7:30 p.m. in a game that can be seen nationwide on CBS Sports Network.
