Wrestling Rankings Round-Up: December 1

PHILADLEPHIA - Penn delved into dual competition for the first time in the 2010-11 season, taking on four teams at the Northeast Duals. A 2-2 mark on the team side gave Penn a split, but many of Penn's ranked wrestlers had busy days against challenging opponents. Some move up, some moved down. For all the info on the rankings, here is this week's "Rankings Round-Up".

Notes: The Quakers, who finished second in the conference in 2009-10, start the year ranked third behind national No. 1 Cornell and Rutgers which finished 32nd at the 2010 NCAA Championships ... Zack Kemmerer is Penn's lone No. 1 in the preseason poll ... Scott Giffin and Micah Burak, both runner-up finishers at the 2010 conference championships, start the season ranked second behind the wrestlers who defeated them last March.

Giffin stays at No. 8 after a 1-2 weekend, with both losses coming to wrestlers now in the Top 7 by A.W.N. ...Zack Kemmerer gets a one-spot bump by A.W.N. after a two-point loss to No. 6 Tyler Nauman of Pitt.

Magazine as Giffin takes a big slide despite his two losses coming via the close variety to a pair of fellow national-title contenders in his first weekend at 174 this year ... Also, despite Micah Burak running out to an 11-1 start and moving up fast around the country, he moves up just two spots at 197 ... Kemmerer lost by a takedown to returning All-American Nauman and fell out of the rankings at 141 ... The entire 133 lbs. weight class remained unchanged.
