XC Divides to Conquer at Two Events

PHILADELPHIA – This weekend the men’s and women’s cross country teams from the University of Pennsylvania will divide and compete in two separate events: the Princeton Invitational hosted by Princeton and the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. Both races will be held on Saturday and will prepare the Quakers for what is to come in the following weeks.

Princeton will prove as a competitive event for many of the fresh legs at Penn. The field will feature regional competition and will be a mix of familiar (La Salle and Villanova) and new (Marist and Duquesne) opposition for the Red and Blue. In two weeks, the Ivy League Championships will commence on the same course.

The Quakers traveling to Indiana for Pre-Nationals will run the same course as the NCAA Championships. Including Penn, 75 institutions makeup the men entries while 86 makeup the women entries. A number of nationally ranked teams are among the pack, as are many out of region teams.
