About the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

The University of Pennsylvania’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is made up of student-athlete representatives from each sport and is a vehicle to promote communication between the athletic administration and student-athletes. SAAC provides a student-athlete voice within the department and offers an avenue for student-athletes to discuss issues and concerns, learn about NCAA and Ivy League legislation, and promote an overall sense of community among our 33 Varsity programs.
The purpose of UPENN SAAC is to:
•    Act as a liaison between the administration and student-athletes, thereby providing student-athletes with a voice in the Athletic Department decision-making process.
•    Alert student-athletes to issues concerning them.
•    Encourage and facilitate the involvement of student-athletes in campus and community issues and build a sense of community within the athletics program.
•    Provide a forum to discuss and generate positions on Ivy and NCAA legislation.
•    Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus.

Members of a UPENN SAAC have the opportunity to address issues affecting student-athletes at their institution and offer input on issues which may be national in scope. This committee is meant to serve as a student-athlete voice in addressing issues of student-athlete welfare.
