Salah Wins Second Straight Ivy League Player of the Year, Alves Earns All-Ivy Honors

PHILADELPHIA - For the second straight season, Reeham Salah has been named Ivy League Player of the Year. The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team also nabbed two spots in the All-Ivy selections with Salah and senior Melissa Alves earning first team honors.

Salah is the first player to win they Ivy League Player of the Year award in back-to-back years in program history. Throughout her career, the junior has been a dominant force in Ivy League Squash. For much of the last two years it has been difficult to take a game off of Salah, let alone a match. After going 15-0 a year ago, she backed that up by going 13-0 in the regular season this year losing just one game in the process.

At the number two slot, team captain Melissa Alves earned first team honors for the second straight year. Out for the first half of the year with an injury, Alves made it back just in time for the Ivy season. the senior went 6-1 in the Ivy with her only loss coming to Harvard.

Penn finished the year fifth in the Ivy League with a 3-4 conference record. Their two All-Ivy selections came in second behind Harvard's four.

The Quakers will be back in action on March 2 as they take on the CSA Individual Championships in Washington D.C. Behind Salah and Alves, Penn earned a win over Columbia while losing to Stanford on their way to the consolation finals at the Howe Cup.
