COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team placed third in a tri-meet at Maryland Friday night, finishing with a team score of 192.175.
BEAM
The Quakers started their night on beam, with three from Penn posting scores of at least 9.675.
Kyra Levi kicked things off, while
Darcy Matsuda and
Caroline Moore rounded out the lineup. Penn posted a score of 48.100 as a team in the opening rotation.
FLOOR
Penn continued on floor, its strongest event of the season thus far, and finished with a score of 48.200. Levi again led off, posting a solid 9.750 to lead the squad, followed by a 9.600 from
Morgan Hunker. Penn's also saw a 9.700 from the freshman, Matsuda.
VAULT
The Quakers then found themselves on vault, finishing with three scores of at least 9.600, including a 9.600 from
Valerie Rube, a 9.675 from
Jordyn Mannino, and a well executed 9.725 from senior
Ally Podsednik in the anchor spot. As a team, Penn finished with a 47.900.
BARS
Penn tallied a 47.975 on bars, led by a score of 9.825 from Levi, matching her performance at the Ivy Classic a week ago.
Alex Kothe followed with a 9.725, while fellow sophomore
Caroline Mitsch finished with a 9.700.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Quakers continue their five-meet road swing next weekend, but will be closer to home than usual, making the short trek to Temple for a quad-meet against the host Owls and Maryland.
